GLOBAL ARTISTS FOR SUSTAINABILITY

The online medium for theatre has meant a space where performance, visual art, music and film converge to create a most unique expression. Tapping into the inherent strengths of each participant 'Global Artists for Sustainability', presented by the Chicago Children's Theatre and The Pomegranate Workshop is a unique online program which surfaces myriad talents.
Story making, script writing, original music compositions, original art, shadow play,  puppetry and scrolls and of course body, movement and voice work, are all part of this unique cross continental workshop!

Join this online international class co-led by Chicago Children's Theatre and Mumbai's The Pomegranate Workshop as we create a theatre production centered around the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Students will explore topics such as sustainable and safer cities, better income distribution, climate conservation, clean water, renewable energy, preservation of life in oceans and on land and gender equality to inspire an original work featuring poetry, puppetry, and movement. The final piece will screen at Pomegranate's WeCreate 2021 online festival.

Note: this class will be limited to 6 students from the United States and 6 students from India.

About Pomegranate's WeCreate Sustainability Festival:

In 2019, Pomegranate spearheaded a unique festival centred around arts and sustainability across schools in Mumbai. The festival included a theatre production staged at the NCPA and a Battle of the Bands music contest at the Royal opera House. An anthology of student works - Poets for Sustainability was released at the festival featuring poems by young adults. The festival was held in partnership with the Bombay Canteen restaurant, Art Deco Mumbai, Smart Commute and a senior team from the Industrial Design Center, IIT Bombay.
In 2020 the festival is scheduled after June 2021 and will be entirely online with international collaborators and online performances and workshops.

The Global Artists for Sustainability production will be showcased at the festival.
